Ian’s practice focuses on business law and estate planning.
Ian has helped his business clients meet a variety of challenges, from start-up to merger/acquisition, and he is experienced in corporate governance and finance, mergers and acquisitions, technology licensing and development, product distribution and sales, joint ventures, and a broad spectrum of other commercial transactions. Ian’s business law practice includes a substantial focus on information technology companies, and he has acted as general counsel to software and equipment developers, manufacturers, resellers, and other technology companies, since 1997.
Ian is also an experienced estate planning/administration lawyer, and his practice has involved sophisticated tax planning and compliance work since he graduated from law school with an emphasis in federal tax law. Ian is deeply experienced in the creation and implementation of complex, intergenerational wealth transfer and protection plans.
Ian’s skills in tax law, corporate governance, and estate planning come together in the representation of nonprofit organizations, with a particular focus on private foundations, supporting organizations, and charitable trusts. Ian also represents charitable donors in the course of his tax and estate planning practice.
Ian regularly presents to professional education organizations, business groups and charitable donors on estate planning, business transactions, and charitable giving.
