Martha specializes in domestic relations law. Every case is different and that is part of what makes this area of law so interesting. Martha recognizes that clients who need help in this area may be coming to a lawyer at the worst point in their lives. She strives to give each client the attention and guidance needed to get through a difficult time as smoothly as possible.
Martha handles divorces, custody cases, paternity cases, visitation cases, spousal and child support cases and modification cases. She also helps clients with stalking orders and with abuse prevention orders, both in obtaining such orders and in defending against them. She drafts Prenuptials and Living Together Agreements. Before specializing in domestic relations, she had the benefit of working in almost all aspects of “civil” law, including probate, wills, guardianships, and drafting security agreements for real and personal property. She previously specialized in creditors’ rights, representing creditors in state court as well as in bankruptcy court. This broad background has helped her in her domestic relations practice, particularly in establishing or protecting clients’ property or support rights.
Martha was born and raised in Eugene. She lived in California for several years before attending law school. She had a wonderful time working for Crocker Bank and living in San Francisco, a city she still loves to visit. After law school, she married another Eugene native and has two grown children. She likes to read while appearing to work out on the Stairmaster. She loves going to the beach. She enjoys watching non-educational TV. Attending Oregon Football games is a highlight for her and her family and following the Zags (her husband’s alma mater) is another highlight.
