James Smith

James is a member of the firm’s Estate Planning and Administration practice.  His practice focuses primarily on estate planning, probate and trust administration, and tax.  He graduated from the Florida State University College of Law in 2014, and also has a LL.M in Taxation from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.

James provides counsel to Personal Representatives and Trustees in the proper administration and transfer of estate and trust assets.  He takes pride in supporting clients through difficult situations, whether that is planning for incapacity and death, or dealing with the administration of a loved one’s trust or estate. He enjoys working with clients to help turn their financial and succession goals into efficient and effective estate plans.  James finds the estate planning process enjoyable because he feels that appropriate planning significantly reduces the stress on loved ones during challenging times with the added benefit of doing so in a more economically efficient manner.

James was raised in Grants Pass, Oregon, and spent many summers on the Rogue and Illinois Rivers.  Outside the office, he enjoys hiking, camping, and gardening.  He is passionate about sharing his love of the outdoors and the beautiful State of Oregon with his young family.
