2011 Legislative Updates of Interest

Among other things, changes by the 2011 legislature to the Oregon Revised Statutes meant significant changes in the laws affecting Oregon employers, Oregon Business Energy Tax Credit (“BETC”) applicants and recipients, and many Oregon real property owners.
The Bureau of Labor and Industries provides a 2011 legislative summary here describing changes in employment laws, including HB 2040’s technical changes to the wage and hour laws.
The Department of Energy provides a 2011 legislative summary here, which includes a discussion of HB 3672 that “amends, sunsets and creates a number of tax credit programs … .”
The Department of Revenue provides a 2011 legislative summary here, which includes HB 2478’s requirement that taxpayers file appeals of assessed value of land or improvements of certain industrial property in Tax Court, HB’s 2570’s modification of tax liens for bona fide purchasers, and HB 3017’s extension of the sunset on certain businesses to obtain approval for enterprise zone exemptions.
